Earth Hour event is being organized between 8.30 to 9.30 pm on the 26th of March 2011 in Kakinada, East Godavari District. The activities planned for the Earth Hour include the following:
Event Schedule:
1700-2030 hrs : Training workshop on Energy Audit at Hotel Ishwarya Grand.
2030-2100 hrs : Candle light walk from Bhanugudi Junction to Vivekananda Park
2100-2130 hrs : Cultural Event at Vivekananda Park

This year, the global theme of Earth Hour is 60+, which is one hour of turning off all electrical appliances for 60 minutes for Earth Hour, plus committing to a personal action to benefit the environment. WWF-India, Andhra Pradesh State Office is organizing the Earth Hour in 2011 in Kakinada, East Godavari district on the 26th of March. The young volunteers of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada will support WWF in leading the event at Kakinada. Like minded partners like, Nyros Technologies, AP Pollution Board, SRMT, Regency Ceramics, JNTU Kakinada are providing support to the EARTH HOUR.
Climate change has emerged as the most urgent crisis facing the planet. The earth’s climatic system has been thrown out of balance by the rapid destruction of natural resources caused by humanity. Earth Hour is WWF’s annual global campaign and an inspiring message of hope and action – a global demonstration for action on climate change. Earth Hour is an initiative to represent the resistance of the people towards climate change. Earth Hour is the movement by citizens of the world to turn off all lights and electrical appliances for an hour in order to save energy and reduce emissions as a way of fighting climate change.
Earth Hour in India is supported by the Government of India and various corporate, individuals, NGOs, schools and colleges. Corporate like Wipro, ITC Welcome group, HP Invent, PVR cinemas, Intel, Nokia, Google, ICICI bank and many more have supported the event. Personalities in entertainment such as Actors Aamir Khan, Abishek Bacchan, Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and many others have also lent their hand in supporting the initiative in the past years.
