Kakinada, Jan 7th: Vaikunta Ekadasi is an important festival dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This is the festival which occurs in December or early January. Number of devotees from all over Kakinada congregated at the temple of Sri Bhavannarayana Swamy, Sarpavaram, Kakinada, on Wednesday on the occasion of ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ which was observed with religious ecstasy. On this occasion Special poojas were offered to Lord Vishnu. From the early hours of Wednesday the temples were filled with devotees. Long queues were found in the temples to grab the blessing from the god.
Gita Parayanam by women devotees
In the temples of Lakshmi Narayana Swamy amd Kodanda Ramalayyam the women devotees did Gita Parayanam. Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Jagganaickpur priest Ponduri Rangacharyulu has offered Suprabhatha seva to Lord Venkateswara. Later in the evening Lord Venkateswara was made to wander in the town streets. The streets were filled with huge crowds offering harathi to the god. Later prasadam was distributed to the devotees. Estimating the huge crowds on this occasion, security measures were taken by the temples management.
