Hyderabad, Jan 19th: Dejected over the 'inordinate delay' in the formation of separate Telangana state, an MCA student of the Osmania University committed suicide here on Wednesday. The student Venugopal Reddy poured kerosene over his body and set himself ablaze in front of the Tagore auditorium, police said.

Tension gripped the OU campus, with a large number of students boycotting the examinations and staging a noisy protest, demanding that all public representatives from Telangana region first resign and ensure that their resignations were accepted by the appropriate authorities. Telangana JAC leaders, including its convenor M Kodandaram, who rushed to the University to calm the agitated students, appealed to the student community not to take the extreme step of ending their lives.
