Kakinada, Jan 8th: Huge impact was shown on the availability of petrol due to the strikes organized by the transporters and the oil companies. Petrol bunks across the nation are drying up due to this twin impact. The oil companies have struck work, demanding for the pay revision pending since 2007. Particularly BPCL and IOC companies have struck the supply due to which the petrol and diesel supply was affected.
Out of 200 petrol bunks in the district nearly 150 bunks were closed showing the no stock boards. Through out the day, serpentine queues were seen in many of the petrol bunks in the district. The petrol needed per day was estimated to be 2 lakh liters of which only 50 thousand was in supply. Two wheeler and auto owners are facing many problems due to the non availability of the fuel.
Hike in prices of essential commodities
Hike in the prices of essential commodities was seen due to the ongoing strike of transporters and the oil companies in both the East and West Godavari district. The prices of vegetables and essentials are shooting up day by day, on the other hand consumers found it difficult to get supplies of fuel and domestic gas. With the truckers strike entering its fourth day, the dealers of petrol and diesel are unable to cope up with the demand.
